The Whole Food Journal was once a monthly printed newsletter that explored the many pleasures and benefits of healthier eating. It was then, and still is, my passion to share what I’ve learned over a fair number of decades about food and nutrition, gardening and sustainable or green living. The opportunity to continue sharing information on a whole new level, thanks to the internet, has come my way and I look forward to the adventure.
Food is center stage in all of our lives and our choices can either heal us or make us sick. There are endless mountains of information out there, much of which is often very confusing, so there is a real need for a place to find intelligent and useful ways to know and use healthy food. The Whole Food Journal is that place.
The scope of the subject of a healthy whole food diet reaches far beyond any grocery isle. We have many choices when it comes to what we eat, and surprisingly we have lots of control. We can eat local. We can eat seasonal. We can grow at least some of our own. We can enjoy organic gardening and even choose the beautiful and highly nutritious heirlooms. And there is the magic of herbs. There are wise people to know and wise information about what really is in all that processed food. Cooking with whole food is healthy, creative and really fun. This is just the beginning of a journey with no end.
While I hope you will learn and be entertained, I do invite your comments, questions and suggestions. Communication is the key in this vision I have of a like minded community enjoying and helping each other through their chosen source of vital information on this most basic of all subjects. Next time we’ll look at the definition of whole foods and what to look for on the grocery shelf.
